1. What is something Daddy always says to you?
G: Start listening.
L: Go clean your room.
C: Please clean the house.
M: I don’t know . . . happy birthday?
2. What makes Daddy happy?
G: You (mama) being happy. Funny things? We do, when we’re
not fighting and listening. Reading. And everyone being happy also. And also
time to himself sometimes. And printing, I think.
L: When he gets to spend time with us.
C: A clean house.
M: A book makes him happy! The Curious George book is right on the bookshelf.
3. What makes Daddy sad?
G: Um, when we’re not listening to him. When he comes
home and the house is messy and you tell him that we’ve fought a lot.
L: When we DON’T clean our room, or when we disobey.
C: A dirty house.
M: Cake makes him sad and frown.
4. How does Daddy make you laugh?
G: Tickling me and making funny jokes.
L: Tells funny jokes.
C: He tickles me.
M: I just laugh. I just laugh about Daddy.
5. What was Daddy like at your age?
G: Shy. And booky. And he liked playing with just a
couple of friends at a time.
L: Small and very funny.
C: Hmmm. He had red hair. Light skin.
And I think that’s all.
M: He walked right on the bed, and on the waterfall. He lived on a waterfall.
6. How old is Daddy?
G: 40. And three quarters.
L: Is it 44?
C: 40.
M: 3 ½
7. How tall is Daddy?
G: 6 feet. Maybe not exactly, but around that.
L: About 6 feet. Six feet and 3 inches.
C: 6 feet and 11 inches.
M: Daddy is, ummmmm, big enough!
8. What is his favorite thing to watch on TV?
G: Probably a movie I’ve never watched before, or even
heard of. In other words, I have no clue.
L: Antiques Roadshow.
C: Incredibles.
M: A dog one. A kitty and a doggie one.
9. What does Daddy do when you're not around?
G: Anise Press work. Watch movies with Mama. Eat candy.
Do stuff at work. And sleep.
L: He plays video games and works on his job.
C: That’s easy! Plays video games. Or plays.
M: Um, he lets me cry.
10. If Daddy becomes famous, what will it be for?
G: His knowledge, or reading and writing skills. Or Anise
Press things.
L: Best at his job.
C: Because of all his Anise Press stuff. And because he’s a good dad.
M: He gets books out and then he puts them away in the bookshelf.
11. What is Daddy really good at?
G: Video games. Reading. Writing and his job and being a
father.
L: Playing with us.
C: Playing video games.
M: Um, throwing us out of his office.
12. What is Daddy not very good at?
G: Crying.
L: Starting a brand new video game.
C: Lifting stuff.
M: He’s not good at swimming.
13. What does Daddy do for his job?
G: Works at Cushing Library. I don’t know exactly what he
does most of the time, but I do know he goes to meetings! And he gives tours
and teaches lessons about the stuff there.
L: Rare books and manufacture?
C: He’s a librarian. And he’s the rare books finder or something.
M: I don’t know. Maybe he does on a plate adventure.
14. What is Daddy’s favorite food?
G: Maybe stir-fry. Or something I’ve never heard of. Or
something I don’t remember. [Like sushi?] Oh, yeah! He likes sushi!
L: Stir-fry.
C: Stir-fry.
M: Sandwiches.
15. What do you admire about Daddy?
G: He’s really good at reading. He has good designing
skills (for like the cards he helps you with). And he helps me with a lot of
things. Like this morning, he got up and helped me make scones even though it
was Father’s Day.
L: Daddy’s so good at doing things that I never thought I could do. [Like
what?] Being this good with books.
C: Daddy is a good cooker. And that’s the true answer!
M: We like to pop bubbles.
16. If Daddy were a fictional character, who would he
be?
G: This is always the hardest one. . . Maybe Whitestorm from Warriors. Or maybe
Greystripe.
L: He would be, like someone from a movie who’s very good with books.
C: I know. Dan from 39 Clues.
M: He would be a parrot.
17. What do you and Daddy do together?
G: We bake. Sometimes I help him print, or do other things
for Anise Press. And sometimes we play games outside.
L: Play some video games.
C: Play video games. Play Trivial Pursuit Adventures.
M: Stay home to nap in Mama and Daddy’s bed.
18. How are you and Daddy the same?
G: We both like reading books and we’re picky about which
songs we like and which books we like to read. We both like baking and cooking.
L: We both like video games. [anything else?] We both like Transformers.
C: We both have. . . Oh man. Ummm? I think that we both have light skin!
M: He’s really good at driving. He takes me to Livi’s house and then he pick me
up and I be so happy to see him!
19. How are you and Daddy different?
G: He likes writing more than I do. He likes to blitz.
Well, I guess he really doesn’t, but he does it less grudgingly. He also wears glasses and he’s a boy. I
guess he’s quieter, except when he yells. He likes different candies than I do.
L: He’s very good with books and I’m not. And I have red hair and he doesn’t.
C: We don’t both have really cool sleepers.
M: He not so good at singing Frozen.

20. How do you know Daddy loves you?
G: Because he helps me with baking and booking and helps
me when I need help and he plays with us a lot.
L: Because he tells me often. He shows it from what he does every day.
C: Because he always says so and because he loves me!
M: Fixes us something. Like chocolate cakes.
21. What does Daddy like most about Mama?
G: You’re awesome and creative and kind and smart and
pretty. And you’ve got good taste in a lot of things – like designs for cards –
and you have good ideas. You’re a perfectionist, too. And Daddy likes that you
agree with him about blitzing on Saturdays.
L: Working on Anise Press stuff.
C: That you have a lot of babies. [Anything else?] That you have blue eyes.
M: Um, 46?
22. Where is Daddy’s favorite place to go?
G: He really wanted to go to Switzerland, but I do think
he really likes going to Europe.
L: On a vacation with us.
C: Paris.
M: Um, church.
23. What is Daddy’s favorite song?
G: Well, he likes a lot of songs, but he does like a lot
of Beatles songs. And he likes "Furr" – that’s by Blitzen Trapper. He likes that
song that Olaf sings in Frozen, but I don’t think that’s his favorite . . . but
probably his favorite from that movie.
L: "Help!"
C: I don’t know. [Can you think of a song he likes?] Umm, "Let It Go." Well, I
assume he likes it.
M: Na, na, na, na na na na!
24. What is Daddy’s favorite book?
G: I don’t know. He probably likes a lot of books and can’t
decide which one is his favorite.
L: I don’t know. I know one he likes – The
Mysterious Tadpole.
C: A study book. [What does that mean?] A book he uses to study in church or
something.
M: Ferocious Wild Beasts (by Chris
Wormell).
25. What is Daddy’s favorite movie?
G: I have no idea. Probably some movie I’ve never heard
of.
L: I know one he likes – The Iron Giant.
C: Oh man, it’s the same as favorite tv show – The Incredibles.
M: The scary one. Is Frozen scary? The snow monster – did you
ever see that snow monster in Frozen?
He really mean to people!
26. What would Daddy do with a million dollars?
G: Probably get us a bigger house and probably a new car
for him to go to work in.
L: He’d use it to get a new house.
C: Buy a bunch of Anise Press things. Lowes . . . buy the whole store of Lowe's.
Doesn’t he already have a million dollars?
M: Get milk. In the freezer.
