On Saturday, we went on an outing to the University's holistic garden to get some tips about our planting and composting. We heard a number of fine strategies about planting in the inhospitable ground in these parts (which I know we've complained about -- this mixture of clay and rock, dashed with various minerals which seem to make the groundwater close to poison for trees, flowers, herbs, &c). The students had also planned some games and treats for the children, so we all had a good time.
