adventure park
We decided to spend our last full day with Grannie and Grandad by going to the park for a treasure hunt. After finding a sequence of riddles and drawings directing them from one clue to another, the kids were led to the "creek" and their prize. (This was after a long stop at the swingset.) Good times.

blessing portrait
While Grandpa Sam and I were at the symposium, Grandma and Jen got to have the real fun here at home. If we found out that most of that revolved around a certain infant, I don't think it would surprise anyone.

found photos
I found these pictures on my camera the other day. Apparently, Gwennie had borrowed it while I was at work in order to snap these images of some monarchs she'd seen in our back yard. I think they turned out very well.

candids
Margaret: [to Grandma] I love you house! Do you have monkeys at
you house, too?
Todd: [drops cake pans]
Linus: Nice drums, Daddy!
Margaret: That wasn’t drums – that was Daddy doing that noise that I heard!
Linus: Nice drums, Daddy!
Margaret: That wasn’t drums – that was Daddy doing that noise that I heard!
M: Can I sit down next to you and watch this show?
T: I’m sorry, Margaret, but I’m going to go have a Sunday nap.
M: You can put your head down on my legs!
M: I liked that show about cats we saw [The Aristocats]. Three cats were white, and three were not. It is a good show to watch in the morning.

boy an' pa
Grandma and Grandpa Sam arrived today for another visit. They're in town partially to attend the Making Sense symposium, planned by Todd and some colleagues in the English Department, and to be present for Simon's blessing. But there will also be ample time to spend among the rest of the family, which -- after the last visit and its unexpected medical emergency -- is something we're all grateful for.
